3rd 'Twilight' Pic Gets Director: Right? Wrong!

What the
LA Times says:

"I hate to be the skunk at the picnic, but Summit Entertainment has not -- I repeat NOT-- hired 'Orphanage' director Juan Antonio Bayona to direct 'Eclipse,' the third film in the wildly successful 'Twilight' series. That would be the exact opposite of the 'news' you read earlier today, first in Nikki Finke’s post on Deadline Hollywood and later in Dave McNary's seemingly authoritative Variety story, which baldly stated that Summit "has tapped Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona to direct 'Eclipse.' 'American Idol': Why Are You Afraid of Being Gay? (When You Already Are.)
'Earlier this week, the LA Times’ pop music critic Ann Powers wrote a thoughtful essay challenging Fox’s American Idol to “open the closet door.” She brings up a bevy of issues the giant karaoke show has locked away because of its overly family-friendly nature -- religious affiliation, language barriers, and race.'

What THR's The Life Feed says:

Jon Stewart slammed CNBC's financial guru Jim Cramer in a tough interview on Thursday night's "The Daily Show," accusing the "Mad Money" host and his network of social irresponsibility during the financial crisis.

"I understand that you want to make finance entertaining," Stewart said, "but it's not a game."

TV: Dish on 'Spectactular Sprider-Man' Season 2

What MovieWeb.com says:

"Josh Keaton is a busy guy, most recently at work providing the lead voice on The Spectacular Spider-Man, the latest animated series featuring Spider-Man. The series goes back to the character's roots, and focuses on a Peter Parker who is still in high school, meeting up with many of his most famous supervillains for the very first time. It also focuses heavily on the turbulent nature of Peter Parker's personal life, and the challenges of balancing being a superhero with being a teenager.

"We recently had the chance to talk one-on-one with Josh Keaton, and he shared with us a few highlights about the show's upcoming second season, what villains we can expect to see, why Josh would love to play a superhero in a live-action production, and what superpowers he would want to have."

Movies: Superhero Update -- 'Marvel Delays Movies'

What The Hollywood Reporter Says:

The superheroes will take just a little longer to arrive on the scene. Marvel Entertainment announced Thursday morning it was pushing back by a year a pair of key properties in its comic-book franchises, "Thor" and "Avengers." The pictures are moving from 2010 and 2011, respectively, to 2011 and 2012.

"Thor" will now release on June 17, 2011 (it had previously been scheduled for July 16, 2010), while "Avengers" will hit theaters on May 4, 2012 (it had been slotted for July 15, 2011).

TV: 11-Man Orgy Spawns 'Family Guy' Suit

What The Hollywood Reporter says:

"The Parents Television Council is filing an indecency complaint with the Federal Communications Commission against Fox's "Family Guy" for a March 8 episode that included -- and this is from the press release -- "bestiality, orgies and babies eating sperm."

"Since there's nothing hotter than PTC president Tim Winter talking about graphic TV content, let's get right to his quote:

"'Fox treated viewers to everything from an 'eleven-way' gay orgy to baby Stewie eating a bowl of cereal with horse sperm instead of milk ... if that isn’t enough, the show’s leading character is also shown fanaticizing about his wife and moaning while a horse licks his bare behind. Clearly, the explicit content was not isolated to one instance in one segment of the show; it permeated the entire program.'"

Movies: Drew Barrymore to Direct 3rd 'Twilight'?!?!?

What E!Online says:

"Drew Barrymore knows a thing or two about extraterrestrials, so vampires shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

"The 'E.T.' actress is in talks to direct Eclipse, the third entry in the Twilight franchise.

"According to Entertainment Weekly, Barrymore is among the top choices to follow in the footsteps of Catherine Hardwicke, who helmed Twilight, and Chris Weitz, who's about to start filming the first sequel, New Moon."

Movies: 'Twilight' Board Game? MTV Says, 'Yes!'

Movies: MTV Exclusive - Big Screen 'Candy Land' Pic

What MTV says:

"Adaptations, sequels, reboots — nary a day goes by without news of some newfangled iteration of entertainment properties big and small, beloved and forgotten. You can’t be blamed for yawning in the face of all this unoriginality. Yet the burgeoning big screen version of Hasbro's 'Candy Land' board game should be a lesson to every would-be producer: assemble enough top-tier talent and even the most jaded cinema-goer has got to get excited.

"The 'Candy Land' script is being penned by 'Tropic Thunder' scribe Etan Cohen and directed by Kevin Lima, the helmer behind the surprisingly good 'Enchanted.' After throwing together this stellar crew, the film's exec producer and CEO of Hasbro Brian Goldner dished out an MTV News exclusive first look at the film's development — details of which have not been publicly discussed before."

Movies: Final Full-Length 'Star Trek' Trailer

What Wiki says:

"Star Trek is a science fiction film directed by J. J. Abrams, written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, and produced by Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk. It is the eleventh Star Trek film and features the main characters of the original Star Trek series, who are portrayed by a new cast. It explores the backstories of James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto), before they unite aboard the USS Enterprise to combat Nero (Eric Bana), a Romulan from the future who threatens the United Federation of Planets. The film will be released in conventional theaters and IMAX on May 8, 2009, in North America and the United Kingdom.

"Development of the film began in 2005 when Paramount Pictures contacted Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman for ideas to revive the franchise. The creative team contrasted Orci and Lindelof, who consider themselves "Trekkies", with casual fans like Abrams, who all aimed to create a film that would interest a general audience. They wanted to be faithful to Star Trek canon, but they also introduced elements of their favorite novels, modified continuity with the time travel storyline, and modernized the production design of the original show. Filming took place from November 2007 to April 2008 under intense secrecy. Midway through the shoot, Paramount chose to delay the release date from December 25, 2008 to May 2009, believing the film could reach a wider audience."
